How Long Does a Custom Camper Build Take? Step by Step

Camper Guide October 18, 2026 2 min read

One of the first questions people ask when they decide to have a camper built is: "When can I hit the road?" The answer depends on the project, but breaking the process into stages makes it clear. At Antora Karavan, a bespoke build takes about 45 days on average once the vehicle is in our workshop.

1. Needs analysis

Everything starts with a conversation: how many people will travel, whether you will use the camper for weekends or long journeys, and whether you need it in winter. The clearer this stage is, the faster everything else moves.

2. Planning and the vehicle

Together with our technical team we choose the right vehicle, layout and equipment. If you don't have a van yet, we help you find a suitable one. Sourcing the vehicle is usually the most variable part of the overall timeline.

3. 3D design

Before production starts, we visualise the interior in 3D. You see the bed, kitchen, bathroom and storage on screen and we make changes at this stage. Changes made later in the workshop extend the timeline; 3D design prevents that.

4. Production

The real work happens in the workshop: insulation, electrical system, plumbing, furniture and exterior equipment. Our own team carries out every stage in our own production facility in Aksu, Antalya. Not outsourcing keeps both quality and schedule under control.

5. Quality control

Before handover we test the electrical, water, heating and safety systems one by one. Any issue is fixed before the vehicle leaves.

6. Handover

We hand over your camper with a full walkthrough of every system, and we stay available for service and support after you hit the road.

What makes it shorter or longer?

  • Project scope: a four-season motorhome with a bathroom takes longer than a simple weekend conversion.
  • Equipment lead times: some air conditioners, heaters or lithium batteries can take longer to source.
  • Decision speed: finalising choices quickly during design shortens the schedule directly.
  • Official procedures: engineering approval and registration are planned separately alongside production.
